1. The Virtues and Benefits of Tahajjud
Tahajjud is not obligatory but holds tremendous rewards for those who pray it consistently. It is a sign of true faith, as it requires sacrificing sleep for Allah’s sake.
Benefits of Tahajjud at Sehri:
1. It is the Best Time for Duas to Be Accepted: The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Our Lord descends every night to the lowest heaven during the last third of the night and says: ‘Who is calling upon Me, so I may answer him? Who is asking of Me, so I may give him? Who is seeking forgiveness, so I may forgive him?’”
(Sahih al-Bukhari, 1145; Sahih Muslim, 758)
- This is the ultimate opportunity to make dua for forgiveness, guidance, and personal needs.
2. It Strengthens the Heart and Increases Taqwa: Allah says:
“The worshipers of the Most Merciful are those who spend the night standing and prostrating before their Lord.”
(Surah Al-Furqan 25:64)
- Tahajjud fills the heart with light, bringing peace and nearness to Allah.
3. It Protects from Hardships and Brings Success: The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Hold fast to the night prayer, for it is the practice of the righteous before you, it brings you closer to your Lord, atones for bad deeds, prevents sin, and repels disease from the body.”
(Tirmidhi, 3549)
- Praying at night removes anxieties, heals spiritual wounds, and strengthens faith.
4. It Raises One’s Status in Jannah: The Prophet ﷺ said:
“In Paradise, there are rooms whose inside can be seen from the outside, and the outside can be seen from the inside. These are prepared for those who speak kindly, give charity, fast regularly, and pray at night when others are asleep.”
(Tirmidhi, 1984)
- Consistently praying Tahajjud leads to an elevated status in Jannah.
