- Substance abuse, adultery, physical violence, neglect of Salah.

(Quran 6:151)

Fasting trains self-restraint; use this month to break destructive habits and replace them with acts of worship and self-discipline.
2. Sins of the Tongue
Words that poison relationships and souls:
- Backbiting (ghiba), lying, slander, vulgar speech.
Hadith:
The Prophet ﷺ said, “Whoever guarantees me what is between their jaws (tongue) and legs (chastity), I guarantee them Paradise.”
(Bukhari 6474)
Ramadan Focus:
Guard your speech—silence is worship when words lack benefit. Use this month to cultivate mindful and kind communication.
3. Sins of the Heart
Hidden spiritual diseases:
- Arrogance (kibr), envy (hasad), malice, hypocrisy.
Quranic Warning:
Surely, Allah does not love the arrogant.”(Quran 16:23)
Ramadan Focus:
Purify your intentions; even good deeds are voided by a corrupt heart. Reflect on your inner state and strive to replace negative traits with humility, gratitude, and sincerity.
Why This Matters
- In Ramadan: Sins diminish rewards and block spiritual progress.
- Beyond Ramadan: Unchecked sins harden the heart and invite divine displeasure.
- Imam Ghazali’s Insight: “The heart is a mirror; sins are its rust. Tawbah polishes it to reflect divine light.” (Ihya Ulum al-Din)
Path to Repentance
- Acknowledge: Admit the sin without excuses.
- Regret: Feel genuine remorse.
- Abandon: Stop the sin immediately.
- Resolve: Never return to it.
Allah’s Promise:
“Say, ‘O My servants who have transgressed against themselves: Despair not of Allah’s mercy, for Allah forgives all sins.'”
(Quran 39:53)
Ramadan Focus:
Guard your speech—silence is worship when words lack benefit. Use this month to cultivate mindful and kind communication.
Conclusion: Ramadan—A Lifeline for Transformation
Use this month to:
- Audit your actions, speech, and intentions.
- Replace sins with acts of worship and kindness.
- Seek forgiveness through Salat al-Tawbah (Prayer of Repentance).
Final Dua:
“O Allah! Purify my heart from hypocrisy, my deeds from showmanship, my tongue from lies, and my eyes from treachery. You know the deceit of eyes and what hearts conceal.”
May Allah cleanse our sins and make this Ramadan a turning point in our lives. Ameen.
