Iftar: A Moment of Joy and Acceptance
The Reward for Breaking Fast on Time
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“The people will continue to prosper as long as they hasten to break the fast.”
(Sahih Bukhari, 1957)
This isn’t just a matter of eating early — it’s about aligning your actions with divine pleasure.
The Prophetic Method of Iftar
“The Prophet ﷺ would break his fast with fresh dates, and if none were available, with dry dates. If no dates were found, he would drink a few sips of water.
(Sunan Abu Dawud, 2356)
The Dua at Iftar: A Time of Acceptance
The Prophet ﷺ taught us to say:
“ذَهَبَ الظَّمَأُ وَابْتَلَّتِ الْعُرُوقُ وَثَبَتَ الْأَجْرُ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ”
“The thirst has gone, the veins are moistened, and the reward is assured, if Allah wills.”
(Sunan Abu Dawud, 2357)
